Terms of Service
Last updated: 6 September 2026
These terms govern your use of the Ortama app and website. By creating an account you accept them.
1. What the service is
Ortama is a platform that helps people meet in real life around hobby and conversation tables such as okey, backgammon, chess, books, walks, sports, language exchange and coffee.
Ortama is not a dating or matchmaking app. Using it for romantic or sexual purposes breaches these terms.
Ortama does not run the meet-ups themselves; the person or business who creates a table is its host. Ortama is the intermediary that brings people together.
2. Who may use it
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- The information you provide must be accurate and the profile photo must genuinely be of you.
- One person, one account. Businesses use a separate business account.
- A user whose account was previously closed may not open a new one.
3. Rules of conduct
Ortama exists so people can meet safely. The following are prohibited:
- Harassment, insults, hate speech, discrimination, threats and persistent unwanted contact.
- Sexual messages, propositions or imagery.
- Unsolicited commercial messages, fraud, fake offers, and requests for money or crypto assets.
- Impersonating someone else or creating fake personal or business profiles.
- Sharing another user's personal information without permission.
- Organising meet-ups involving illegal activity, gambling, or supplying alcohol or drugs.
4. Safety and responsibility
- Meet-ups happen in real life and outside Ortama's supervision. Prefer busy, public places and think twice before sharing personal details.
- Ortama does not run identity or background checks; ratings and badges are community trust signals only.
- Users are responsible for what happens at a meet-up, for any damage caused and for promises they do not keep.
- Report anything that makes you feel unsafe from inside the app; in an emergency contact the authorities first.
5. Content and moderation
- You own the content you post; you grant Ortama only the licence needed to operate the service.
- Breaking the rules can lead to a warning, restriction or account closure. You can appeal a decision from inside the app.
- An automatic profanity filter runs on messages; flagged messages may be reviewed by the moderation team.
- Table chats are deleted automatically 30 days after the event ends.
6. Business accounts and subscriptions
- Personal use is free. Business features (table quota, campaigns, featured placement) require a monthly subscription.
- Subscriptions are purchased only through the Business Portal on the web; there are no in-app purchases in the mobile apps.
- The 30-day trial requires no card details and does not convert into a paid subscription by itself.
- A subscription runs to the end of its period; if you cancel, service continues until then and no further period is charged.
- Consumer withdrawal rights in the European Union are unaffected. Invoices and payments are handled by the payment provider (iyzico or Paddle).
- We announce price changes at least 30 days before they take effect.
7. Campaigns
- The business that creates a campaign is solely responsible for its content and for honouring it.
- Campaigns are reviewed by moderation before going live; misleading or non-compliant campaigns are removed.
- A campaign can be redeemed once per person, by showing the confirmation screen at the register.
- Ortama does not collect the value of a campaign and is not a party to the transaction between guest and venue.
8. Closing an account
- You can delete your account at any time in settings; you may change your mind during the 14-day cooling period.
- We may close an account without prior notice in case of a serious breach of these rules.
- Closing an account does not cancel payment obligations that already arose.
9. Limitation of liability
The service is provided as is; we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error free. To the extent permitted by law, Ortama is not liable for relationships between users or for indirect damages.
Rights under consumer law, and cases of intent or gross negligence, are excluded from this limitation.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms; significant changes are announced in the app and the date on this page is updated.
The laws of the Republic of Türkiye apply. Consumers living in the European Union continue to benefit from the mandatory consumer provisions of their own country.
